A former Gen Z Etsy witch who claims to have placed a curse on Charlie Kirk has said that she did not intend for her hex to kill him.
You may have missed it, but attention was recently drawn around an article published by women’s news site, Jezebel, in which the author paid for self-described witchesfrom Etsy to place a hex on Charlie Kirk. Just two days later, on September 10, the right-wing activist was fatally shot on a Utah college campus.
Whether you believe in witchcraft or not, many believe the coincidence was striking enough to cause an uproar – particularly after it was pointed out by Fox News host Megyn Kelly. Megyn has claimed on her that Charlie Kirk and his widow, Erika Kirk were “rattled” by the piece.

The author of the Jezebel article, which has since been taken down, had bought the spell in the hope of punishing Charlie Kirk for what they considered to be his “years of regressive rhetoric”. Charlie Kirk had founded the conservative youth group called Turning Point USA and he advocated for Christian family values, including the banning of abortion.
The right-wing figure rose to prominence during Trump's first administration, speaking on his podcast and touring campuses. He routinely debated liberals, Muslims and LGBTQ+ students, and received allegations of misogyny, Islamophobia and homophobia.
Though, the author of the Jezebel article did add: “I want to make it clear, I’m not calling on dark forces to cause him harm.” Jezebel also released a statement condemning political violence.
It’s a sentiment echoed by witch Ursula and her partner, who aids in her craft. Urusla, 26, grew up in Europe and supposedly learned witchcraft from her grandmother. She tells The Mirror that she set up her Etsy store, Ursulaspells, about two years ago.
According to her store page at the time of writing, Ursula had a four-and-half-star rating and had sold almost 19,000 spells. Some of her most popular wares included manifestation spells, such as for money and love, and hexes. On average, she was selling about 100 spells a day, with prices ranging from £15 to £30.
However, her Etsy shop has since been taken down – she believes due to her link to the Charlie Kirk hex. The Mirror has reached out to Etsy for comment.
While only one witch was named in the article, Reddit sleuths linked one of the spells named in the article to Ursulaspells’ Etsy account. She herself claims to have been one of the three witches involved in the article.
Ursula insists that her intention was never to harm the political debater. Given that English is not Ursula's first language, her partner, who wishes to remain anonymous, provided a translation. Her partner alleges: "My girlfriend's intentions were not to kill that person [Charlie Kirk].”
Instead, she claims what happened to him was a result of negative karma. Her partner continues: “The line was thin already. There was an accumulation of negativity so bad that three witches was more than enough just to push [the hex] through."
Ursula claims that she practises a form of magic known as “white magic”, which basically involves using organic materials like herbs and candles in order to cast spells, as well as requiring some basic knowledge of the spell enchantee, such as their name and age.
But another key component of "white magic", according to Ursula and her partner, is that it operates on karma. Ursula’s partner explains: “If the person who ordered the spell wants to cause harm, like cast a hex spell, to another person, that person who has had the spell cast on them has to have done something wrong before – otherwise, it doesn't work.”

Which is what they claim happened with the Charlie Kirk hex. Ursula clarifies that she believes the assassination occurred after the hex was cast because Charlie Kirk had, essentially, upset more people than he had served.
According to Ursula and her partner, there are different ways in which you can cast a hex on someone. For a weaker hex, you can use a mirror and someone’s photo to cast the spell. However, for more powerful hexes, graveyard dirt is involved.
Ursula says that she has refused to cast spells before, either due to extreme requests or out of concern over potential negative outcomes. Her partner believes: “Magic is a thing that relies on a lot of belief and you don't want to mess with life. When Ursula feels like there's something wrong and she will stop [casting the spell].”
